Dorothy Jean Norwood, 87, of Dallas passed away on February 11, 2022 at The Addison of Lincolnton. She was born on May 9, 1934 to the late Isaac Taylor and Methia Calloway Taylor. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Everett Norwood; seven brothers; and two sisters.
Dorothy was an extremely talented seamstress by trade, but she also made clothes for her girls until they were almost grown. She used some of that talent, along with crocheting, etc. to be a blessing to residents of nursing homes by making things to brighten up their rooms and make them feel special.
She was a committed Christian that loved to serve her Jesus in so many ways. She taught Sunday School classes, sang in the choir, made hospital visits to fellow church members, and watched children so their parents could attend meetings for ministries they were involved in.
She always tried to be kind and loving to everyone. She loved her family and treasured every moment she had with them. She taught them, by her example, that they should live their lives in a way that would be pleasing to her Lord and Savior.
Survivors include her son, Ronald Martin, Jr. of Dallas, NC; daughters, Pat Burnette and husband Anthony of Matthews, NC and Phyllis Wickham and husband Raymond II of Cary, NC; two granddaughters, Kristen Rushing and husband DJ and Faith Ciampa and husband Matt; two grandsons, Brandon Burnette and wife Kim and Raymond Wickham III and wife Liz; and five great grandsons, Trevor and Brantley Rushing, Liam Ciampa, and Caleb and Joshua Wickham.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Union Baptist Church Cemetery, 3800 Polkville Rd., Shelby, NC 28150 with Pastor Hank Parker officiating.
