Donald "Don" Roy Costner

Donald "Don" Roy Costner, 85, of Dallas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, November 18, 2019. He was born in Gaston County on May 7, 1934, the son of the late Roy Hope Costner and Mabel Eastwood Costner. Don was a longtime member of Spencer Mountain Baptist Church and currently a member of Plainview Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, and a past board member of  Spencer Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.  His passion was singing gospel and he was a member of the Costner Quartet, the Songsters, and the Chord Weavers, a barbershop quartet. He also loved playing golf.  Anyone that knew Don loved him dearly and he will be missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William "Bill" Costner; children, David and Sherry Costner; and a sister-in-law, Patsy Costner.

Don is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice "Jan" Costner; son, Lynn Costner; daughter, Karen Milazzo and husband Victor; son, Kenneth Costner and wife Yessica; brother, Ervin Costner; sister-in-law, Francis Costner; grandchildren, Monica, Kayla, Emily, Eskarleth, Evan, Izzy, Gaby, and Tiffany; great grandchildren, Bentley, Brailey, Wade, and Mia; and numerous nieces and nephews.  

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M.at Plainview Baptist Church, 3640 Dallas High Shoals Highway, Dallas, NC.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019, 12:00 P.M., at Plainview Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Hovis officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.
