Mt. Holly

Dennis P. Dunlap, 58, of Mt. Holly passed away at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia on March 7, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories that will be treasured forever. While he may have left this world, his spirit will live on through those who knew him best. He was born on January 21, 1966, in Columbia, SC to his loving parents, Carol Dean Miller and the late Robert Dunlap.

Throughout his life, Dennis developed a passion for various interests. One of his greatest joys was cheering on his favorite football team, the Carolina Panthers. His dedication to the team was unwavering, and he found immense happiness in following their games.
Not only did Dennis have a love for sports, but he also adored his furry companions, MooMoo, Charlie, and Chewy. His dogs were more than pets; they were cherished members of his family who brought him comfort and companionship.

Dennis is survived by his devoted mother, Carol Dean Miller (Gary), who will always carry his memory in her heart. He is also survived by his dedicated life partner, Debbie Denio, along with her extended family, who meant the world to him. His son, Myles Dunlap (Brittany) , will forever be proud of the father he had.
In addition to his immediate family, Dennis leaves behind a loving stepmother, Sandy Dunlap and his stepbrother, Matthew Dunlap; caring siblings, David Dunlap (Courtney), Dean Dunlap (Monya), Dustin Dunlap (Dawn), Dana Wilkerson (Tim), and Donna Dunlap Sanders.
The circle of life continues as Dennis is anticipated to become a grandfather posthumously in July 2024 to Anna Louise "Wheezie" Dunlap - a new generation that will carry forward his spirit of kindness and joy. He had a special connection with his nephew Josh and held a place of honor in the hearts of other nieces and nephews.

Dennis's presence touched many lives, leaving behind a trail of beautiful moments and everlasting impressions. In each memory shared and every story told, he will be remembered with profound fondness and gratitude for the love he shared so generously.
May his soul find peace in the eternal embrace of serenity as those who knew him continue to hold him dear within their hearts. Dennis will forever remain a beacon of light guiding those he loved towards happiness and comfort amidst the shadows of grief.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local Animal Shelter.
