David Ray Cagle, a beloved father, son, and brother, entered this world on November 16, 1985, in Gaston County, to Lisa McCarn and the late David Lee Cagle. David was a caring person who would give you the shirt off his back displaying his generosity and kindness. His spirit was larger than life, often leaving a trail of laughter wherever he went. A true jokester at heart, he lived each day on the edge, embracing both the beauty and challenges life had to offer.
David passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2024, leaving behind a family that cherished him deeply. He was a loving father to his four children: David Lee Cagle, Tyler Ray Cagle, Jayden Colt Cagle, and Hunter Raymond Cagle. David’s love for his children knew no bounds and was a defining aspect of his life. In addition to his children, he is survived by the mother of his children, LaDonna Cagle; his mother, Lisa; and his brothers, Randy Lee Cagle and Cody William Cagle. Together, they will hold onto the memories of joyful moments spent with David, each laughter ringing a little longer in his absence.
David had a zest for life that was evident in his hobbies and interests. He found joy in the thrill of fishing tournaments, where he spent countless hours waiting for the next big catch. Evenings were often filled with teaching his kids how to play cards and games. They all especially enjoyed the quality time together over a game of dominoes or spades where his competitive nature shone brightly, matched only by his sense of humor.
Recently, David took a significant step in his spiritual journey by attending services at Sunset Forest Baptist Church. This was a proud accomplishment for him, marking a new chapter devoted to faith and community. His family is grateful for the time he spent nurturing his spiritual life, which he approached with the same passion he had for everything else.
David’s life, albeit too short, was filled with love, infectious laughter, and countless memories. He will be remembered for his unyielding spirit, his love for his family, and the deep love he had for his children. In the hearts of those who knew him, David Ray Cagle will forever remain a shining light, an everlasting reminder to cherish every moment and to always lend a helping hand.
He is now reunited in peace with his father and his sister, Tonya Ryan, who preceded him in death. May their memories weave together in the hearts of all who loved them.
