Darrell “Nick” D. Nichols, 83, of Lowell passed away August 27, 2017 at his residence. Nick was born December 12, 1933 in Dewey County, South Dakota to the late Williams and Sylvia Nichols. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sylvia “Tonee” Norris and brother, Cecil Nichols. Nick was a member of Independent Baptist Tabernacle Church in Dallas and was a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. He was retired from Pharr Yarns in McAdenville and was an avid bowler bowling in leagues and participated in many bowling tournaments. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboys fan. He also loved to travel. Nick was known as a “man’s man” and dearly loved his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Yvonne Bowker Nichols; Children, Becky Wright of Charlotte, Joe Nichols of Lowell, Robyn Nichols of Lowell, and Jeff Nichols and wife Michelle of Mt. Holly; 5 Grandchildren, Brooke, Michael, Wesley, Tosha, and Stephanie; and 2 Great Grandchildren, Kurtis and Zadee.
Memorial services to celebrate Mr. Nichols life will be held at 7pm Thursday, August 31 at Benson Funeral Services Chapel, Mt. Holly with Rev. Jeffrey Nichols and Preacher Ralph Carver officiating. Visitation will be held from 5pm-7pm. Inurnment will be private.
