Danny Ray Vanover, 62, of Stanley passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2019 at his residence. He was born on August 16, 1956 in Sullivan County, TN, the son of the late Walter Henley Vanover and Sarah Lillian Vanover. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Vanover, and a brother, Louis Vanover. He was a member of Redeemed Freewill Baptist Church of Mount Holly. Danny loved Mopars and loved riding his Harley Davidson. He was an all-around American man who enjoyed old farm tractors and dirt track racing. He also liked to make people laugh. Danny was a hard working family man who always put himself last to make sure his family was well provided for. Danny is survived by his loving wife of 43 years and high school sweetheart, Mildred "Mickie" Dunn Vanover; son and daughter-in-law, Kevin Dwayne Vanover and Tracy of Stanley; daughter and son-in-law. Melissa Danielle White and Brian of Dobson; sons by heart, Robert Parham "Cookie", and Jonathan Jennings; brothers, Walter Vanover, and Ronnie Vanover; sisters, Doris Ann Beavers, Mary Lou Barker, Linda Sue Pugh, Barbara Jean Dunn, and Bonnie Marie Hobbs; grandchildren, Tristen Shane Vanover, Joseph Daniel Vanover, Olivia Dawn Vanover, Wyatt Johnson, Kipton Ryan Jennings, Colton Wayne Vanover, and Bristol Lynn Vanover; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019, 6:00 PM, at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, officiated by Rev. Billy Wooten. A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM, prior to the service. Inurnment is private.
