Cody Allen Drake was born on November 13, 1986, in Gaston County to Teresa Drake Hance. Celebrating his life, Cody passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on November 13, 2024, his 38th birthday, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC. It is a bittersweet irony that he departed this life on a day meant to commemorate his own existence.
From a young age, Cody had an innate passion for creativity and community. He was an avid gamer who spent countless hours immersed in digital worlds, pushing boundaries and forming friendships that transcended screens. He brought life to his unique artistic visions, especially through his talent as a tattoo artist, transforming skin into art and connecting with others’ stories through his work. Cody’s love for fishing mirrored his dedication to exploration, whether it was seeking the perfect catch or discovering the beauty of nature’s waters. Each cast of his line was more than a pursuit of fish; it was a moment of tranquility where he could reflect and rejuvenate.
Cody's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him; he had a warmth that made everyone feel welcome and loved. He cherished his family deeply. Survivors include his beloved wife, Nikki Drake, who stood by him with unwavering support through the years; his cherished daughter, Hayden Drake, who brought immense joy and laughter into his life; and his mother and father, Teresa Hance and Paul Hance, who nurtured his dreams and aspirations. Cody leaves behind his brother, Matthew Drake, along with his wife Megan, who shared in many childhood adventures; as well as three step-sisters, two step-brothers, and several nieces and nephews—all of whom will carry forward his vibrant legacy.
As we remember Cody Allen Drake, we celebrate not just the life he lived but the profound impact he had on everyone surrounding him. His memory will flourish in the laughter of his daughter, in the art he created, and in the lives he touched.
