Clara Jean Jenkins

June 14, 1932 — February 23, 2018

Clara Jean Jenkins, 85, of Gastonia passed away February 23, 2018 at her residence.  She was born in Bryson City, NC on June 14, 1932 to the late Harve and Lillie Hollifield.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Jenkins; 5 children, Billy, Bruce, Jessy, Christine, and Barbara; brothers, Jack and Hal Fuller; and sister, Hazel Fuller.  Clara enjoyed the mountains, reading, doing crosswords, and watching wrestling.  She was also a huge fan of Elvis Pressley and loved his music but there was nothing like the love she had for her family especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include sons, David Jenkins and wife Michelle and Dean Jenkins and wife Jennifer; daughters, Katie Lee and Teresa Jenkins; brother, Doug Hollifield and Barbara; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate Clara's life will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mt. Holly with Rev. Robert Hull officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Interment will immediately follow service at Gaston Memorial Park.
