Christina Holt

November 8, 1971 — July 13, 2021

Christina Annette Holt (November 8th, 1971 - July 13th, 2021), daughter of Madam Johnsie Rebecca Brevard and the late Raymond Lee Brown, was born in Brooklyn, New York. At an early age,
she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She adopted her passion to sing from her mother, as she taught her the art of music. She traveled with her mother as the Soloist for Prayer Campaign International. By the age of sixteen, she was a professional singer, performing at multiple conferences, weddings, etc. Annually, she would go with her mother and the Late Mother Beatrice Brown to sing at the Bowery Mission in New York.

She attended Union County College in Cranford, New Jersey and met her Husband, Charles (Lamont) Holt Sr. in late 1991. They fell madly in love and married on August 27th,1994 in Shelby, NC. Lamont and Christina have three children; Christina Aaliyah Naomi Holt (Muffin) Kendra Rebecca Quinca’ Holt, and Charles Lamont Holt Jr. (Poppa). Christina was a committed Wife and Mother and Loved her Family dearly.

Christina earned her Associates in Arts at Gaston Community College in 2003. Following, in 2005, she added her Bachelors Degree in Psychology at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte to her list of accomplishments. From 2006-2009, she taught as a Special Needs teacher to grades 6th, 7th, and 8th grade at William P. Grier Middle School in Gastonia. Christina was employed at J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center as the Program Director of the Mimosa House. She also served as the Board President and Event Coordinator for Neighbor 2 Neighbor Foundation Inc. Her favorite Project was their Annual Christmas Day Dinner in Newark, New Jersey. Later with the help of members of Plainfield New Jersey Class of 1989, and others, the Christmas Day Dinner was moved to Plainfield. In partnership with Neighbor 2 Neighbor Foundation Inc, in 2014 she organized the Family Reunion for the Descendants of Jacob and Rebecca Gordon Brevard.

Christina has joined her late father Raymond Brown, aunt Ruth, brother Christopher Brown, and sister Johnsie McClish. She leaves to mourn her mother, Madam Johnsie Brevard; paternal grandmother, Mother Gorena Brown; husband Charles Sr., children Christina, Kendra, and Charles Jr. brothers Charles Blake, Isaiah Blake, John Blake, sisters Emily Blake Reid, Mary Blake-Young, Ronnettie Johnson, Trenice Ocasio, Paulette Walker, Roberta Chandler, Geraldine Fair and Paula Fair, uncle Joseph Brevard, aunts Laura Mark, Odesser Brevard and Priscilla Figgs, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Prior to her untimely death, Christina planted seeds for her loved ones so that they could, as her favorite singer Vanessa Bell-Armstrong would say, “Press On”.

Funeral services will be held privately for the family and invited friends due to COVID restrictions.  However, due to these restrictions, the service will be broadcasted on Facebook Live at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, 101 Oak Grove St., Mt. Holly, NC 28120.
