Charles "Kenneth" Barker, 88, of Belmont passed away on December 19, 2020 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Nine days later, on December 28, 2020, his wife June Hanna Barker, 86, passed away also at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Ken was born in Catawba County on March 2, 1932 to the late Carl Lee Barker and Eva Lucille Laws Barker. June was born on June 8, 1934 to the late Belon and Pauline Leatherwood Hanna. Ken is also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Thomas Barker. Ken and June were members at New Life Baptist Church in Belmont. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served in the Korean War. Kenneth could fix anything and was known as the "Jack of all trades; Master of none." Ken and June enjoyed making fudge together and selling it at craft shows. They also used to have an ice cream buggy. June loved the beach and enjoyed making ceramics.
Survivors include daughters, Patti Barker Brown and husband Danny and Gail Barker; sons, Michael "Mikie" Barker and wife Debbie and Eddie Barker and wife Betty Jo; 3 grandchildren, J.R. Drye, Dustin Barker and wife Tiffany, and Kevin Barker; 2 great grandchildren, Jana Barker and Kade Barker: and June's sister, Betty Carrigan and husband Charles.
Visitation for Mr. and Mrs.Barker will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services. A graveside service for both will be held on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia with Pastor Allen Forman officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to New Life Baptist Church, 201 Oak Trail, Mt. Holly, NC 28120.
