Charles Edward Davis, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 17, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born on June 30, 1932 in Newport, TN son of the late RL and Lillian Millsaps Gillispie and husband of the late Peggy Davis of 42 years.

Charles "Ed" was a US Army veteran who served in Korea as an MP and departed service with the rank of E-4. He retired from Jenkins Metal Corp., Gastonia and faithfully attended South Gastonia Church of God. He loved fishing and had a passion and a skill in woodworking, crafting many exquisite pieces of furniture and knick-knacks. He was a loving husband, father, pawpaw and friend to all who knew him and will be dearly missed.

Charles is survived by his wife of 16 years, Lenora Long Davis; and children, Lynn Hayes and husband Gary, Mark Davis and wife Gina, Joyce Mason and husband Larry, Dana Little and husband Dale, Pam Blalock and husband Tim; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at South Gastonia Church of God with the funeral service to celebrate Charles' life to follow at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bobby Gilley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Gaston Memorial Park with military honors.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to nurse Anna Shinder and the entire staff of Gaston Hospice for all their love and care given to Charles.
