Charles Kenneth Benson, Sr.

Charles “Buzz” Kenneth Benson, Sr., 86, of Salem, Va. went to his Heavenly home on Friday, September 27, 2019. He was born on February 25, 1933 in Brownsburg, Va. to the late Jacob and Antha Strickler Benson. He was also preceded in death by his son, Chuck Benson; brothers; Jack and Sam, and a special nephew, Chad Benson.

He was retired as a shop foreman at Virginia Truck Center and also prior to that he worked at Dickerson GMC. 

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Manning Benson; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Jenelle Benson; daughters, Tammy Manning and Angela Mitchem; brother and sister-in-law, Benny and Cindy Benson; sister-in-law, Janet Benson; daughter-in-law, Mary Benson; grandchildren, Alicia and John Haskins, Ryan and Bailey Benson, and Taja Manning, Thomas Samantha and Eliza (Izzy) Mitchem; great granddaughter, Bryah Benson; and a special niece and nephew, Amy Helms and husband Alan Helms and Butch Benson and wife Cindy Benson. 

The family would like to offer a very special thank you to the staff at Johnston Willis Hospital of Richmond, VA and Good Samaritan Hospice of Roanoke.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Good Samaritan Hospice.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Simpson Funeral Home 5160 Peters Creek Road.  Interment will be private.  The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Simpson Funeral Home.  540-366-0707
