Carolyn Rutledge, 89, of Stanley passed away January 22, 2019 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born on June 10, 1929 in Mecklenburg County to the late Barney and Estelle Crum Finlayson. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Rutledge; son, Ralph Smith; brothers, Harold, Ralph, Boyd, and Gene Finlayson; and sister, Louise Braswell. Carolyn was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Stanley. She was a member of the Stanley Women's Club, American Legion Auxiliary Post 266, and was an avid bridge player. She also enjoyed camping at the beach and loved fishing.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Roxi Rutledge; granddaughter, Brandi Moore and husband Tim; great grandchildren, Mackenzie Moore, Austin Moore, and Faith Moore; and extended family, Jim "Pop" and Coleen "Nannie" Warren, their daughters, Kim Ferrell and Jennifer Gordon and husband Greg, and their grandchildren Emma Stogner and Brady Gordon. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a Memorial service to celebrate the life of Carolyn on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Stanley with Rev. Steve Jessen officiating. If you would like to participate, the family invites you to join them in wearing purple to the memorial service in honor of Alzheimer's Awareness.
