Carmel "Candy" Chastain

Carmel "Candy" Chastain, 66, of Stanley, went to be with the Lord following many years of suffering with multiple illnesses on Sunday night, March 14, 2021.  She was born in the Hickory Grove Community and graduated from Independence High School.  She loved to cook and was well known for her delicious pound cakes and beautifully decorated cakes. Candy made friends wherever she went and was loved by so many friends.

Candy is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Thomas McCorkle, father, Carvin McCorkle, brother Randy McCorkle, and husband, Raymond Chastain.

Candy's immediate family includes Dustin and Jessica Chastain and William and Maegan Chastain.  She had four grandchildren, Harley, Gage, Mason, and Laine.  She also has a large family including sisters, Joy Cuthbertson (Paul), Gay Harris (Buddy), Melody Miller (Gary), and brother Tracy McCorkle (Tanya).  She had many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services with Deacon Carroll Brown officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m - 1:00 p.m.  Inurnment will be private.
