Austin Hunter Leatherman

Austin Hunter Leatherman, 26, of Gastonia passed away on March 8, 2020 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.  He was born on January 14, 1994 to Stacy and Sandra Fraley Leatherman.  He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Kirby Fraley; paternal grandfather, Benny Leatherman; and uncle, David Wheeler.  Austin will be well remembered for the love that he truly showed for everyone he ever met and came in contact with.  He treated everyone just like he wanted to be treated in return; with love.  He was always happy and full of smiles.  He enjoyed being outdoors, helping with the yardwork, and listening to a wide variety of music.  He had a passion for working with the special needs children at Special Kare for Special Kids in Gastonia. 

In addition to his parents, Austin is survived by his triplet brothers, Kyle Leatherman (Kristal) and Mitchell Leatherman (Leslie); grandmothers, Zona Leatherman and Martha Fraley; 2 aunts, Robin F. Cudd and Lynn F. Wheeler; uncle, Scott Leatherman (Lucy); numerous cousins that Austin adored being around who always put a smile on his face; several great cousins; and his 2 pet dogs, Stella and Buckley.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. at City Church North Campus with Rev. Dickie Spargo officiating.  Visitation will follow after the service.  A graveside service will be held privately by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Special Kare for Special Kids, Webb Street School, Life Enrichment Center Kings Mountain, or Holy Angels.
