Ansel Jones, Jr.

Ansel Jones, Jr., 76, of Mount Holly, passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at his residence. He was born in Clayton, Georgia on February 23, 1945, the son of the late Ansel Jones, Sr. and Mary Lucille Hunter Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Blair Jones; brothers, Marvin Jones, David Jones; sister, Louise Gibson; and brother-in-law, Johnny Williams. Ansel attended Shiloh AME Zion Church of Mount Holly. He loved all sports, especially ball sports like football, baseball, and basketball. He enjoyed fishing, working on cars, watching racing, and watching movies with his grandchildren. He was a very reserved gentleman, but also very kind and loving. Above all, he loved his family and grandchildren.

Ansel is survived by his best friend and caregiver, Rebecca Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mark Neagle; grandchildren, Scott, Blair, Jonathan, Janie; great grandchildren, Scotty, Jillian, Bailey, Chip; nieces, Debbie, Beth, Pam, Christina; nephew, Keith; Gloria Williams and Family; and the Rinehart family.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at Hillcrest Gardens, 1508 Charles Raper Jonas Highway, Mount Holly, with Reverend Dewayne Koonce officiating.

Jonathan Jones, Scotty Jenkins, Chris Helton, Jerry Poovey, Scott Jenkins, and Sam Hannah will serve as pallbearers.
