Annie Mae Stowe

On April 18, 2023, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Annie Mae Stowe, passed away peacefully at age 87. With family by her side, Annie took her last breaths at the Accordius Health nursing home in Gastonia. She was born in Gastonia on May 29, 1935, to James and Edna Armstrong of Belmont. Annie was the last of her generation, preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 63 years, William “Bill” Stowe, her youngest son, Bobby Stowe, and her two sisters, Dot Case and Betty Cranford.  

Annie is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Billie and Bobby Cagle; her son and daughter-in-law, James and Barbara Stowe; her granddaughter and grandson, Cherish Benton and Joshua Stowe; and great-grandchildren, Jalen, Danae, and Chloe. 

Annie worked at the Stowe Mill and later retired from the Piedmont Processing Company in Belmont. She was loving to all she knew, having never met a stranger. Annie had a sharp wit, keeping everyone in stitches with her sense of humor. She was strong and beautiful, inside and out, and will be missed dearly by family and friends. 

Services are Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, 101 Oak Grove St., Mount Holly, NC. Visitation is from 1pm – 2pm, with services following at 2 pm.
