Alvera Falter Stokes

Alvera Falter Stokes, a sweet, gentle soul, and loving mother was born on November 25, 1935, in Delphos, Ohio to the late John and Ida Falter.  She peacefully departed this world on August 25, 2024, at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, North Carolina.  Vera's life was a tapestry woven with profound faith, family, and friends.  She was a member of Queen of The Apostles Roman Catholic Church in Belmont, and also cherished her former ties to St. John's Catholic Church in Delphos, Ohio.

Because of her love for chemistry and science, Vera was a hospital lab technician for approximately 30 years.  She was also a devoted wife and homemaker who loved traveling to visit family and friends.  Those who knew her well could often find her reading, working on crossword puzzles, or engaged in a spirited game of Euchre with family and friends.  She was sweet natured and tiny in stature, but a mighty competitor in any of the games that she enjoyed playing.

Vera has 1 surviving brother in SC, Ronald Falther (Ruthie), and numerous nieces and nephews.  

She leaves behind a legacy of love in her four children: Duane M. Stokes (Chris), John N. Stokes (Anne Marie), Michael A. Stokes (Robin), Gina M. Davis (Wade).  Vera's heart swelled with pride for her 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Barry A. Stokes in 2019.  Siblings who also preceded her in death were her brothers: Richard Falter, Joseph Falter, Reverend John Falter, and her sisters: Mary Grewe, Helen Rahrig, and Dorothy Sterling.

Funeral mass will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, Ohio. Procession immediately following to St. Mary's Cemetery.
