Reba Irene Lowe Gibson, 94, of Dallas, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2021, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia. She was born in Knoxville, TN on March 7, 1926, the daughter of the late Frank and Addie Underwood Lowe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Gordon Harold Gibson; son, Kenneth "Hoot" Ray Gibson; and grandsons, Michael Niece, Bryan Yarborough, Randy Eaton, Matthew Surcy, and Wesley Gilland. Reba was a great mother and grandmother that was a faithful and loyal servant of her Lord and Savior. As the matriarch, she was her family's best advisor and always had sweet tea ready. She had a fantastic sense of humor that always made people laugh. She loved listening to and singing gospel music, and her favorite television shows included Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Steve Harvey, and NCIS. She also enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Reba was an excellent Scrabble player, even though she cheated, and even made her own Scrabble dictionary. Above all, she was the best mother and grandmother in the world and will be dearly missed.
Reba is survived by her children; Harold Gibson and wife Annette of Myrtle Beach, SC, Carolyn Jean Yarborough of Knoxville, TN, Shirley Niece of Bessemer City, Anita Little of Dallas, Sandra Cooke and husband Mike of Clover, SC, Catherine Harroun and husband Mike of Ornaga, IL, Anglea Gibson St. Laurent and husband Robert of Bessemer City; siblings, Phillip Lowe and wife Betty of Knoxville, TN, Trula Connaster and husband Kenneth of Peblem, NH; 28 Grandchildren; 58 Great Grandchildren; 31 Great-Great Grandchildren, and one on the way.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 11, 2021, from 12:00 - 2:00 PM, at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services of Mount Holly, facial coverings and social distancing will be required. A graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
